Treasure Hunting and my SPACE - Test Blog

Treasure Hunting and my SPACE

I sat out on Sunday morning to head over to drop off my rent check for my booth space.  YAY!! So excited.  Now to get things painted & ready to go :)  The name of my business is On Fern Avenue.  I am in a space at the Hyde Park Antique Center.  They open at 10 a.m. and I was there at 10:03 a.m.  The place was already full of people and hopping!

I feel good things to come :)

My Space - Booth #4

The space still has items in it that will be cleaned out and ready for me to move in.  I move in August 15.  Oh My Gosh this is really happening :)

I spotted an estate sale on Craigslist that was on my home.  I had seen a couple of pictures that caught my eye so wanted to stop.  It started at 11:00 a.m. no early birds.  I was there promptly at 11:57 a.m. waiting with a few others.

This was a picture that first had my interest

I walked around for a bit and didn't see it, but I spotted this awesome rooster and snatched it up.

For $5.00 and it was all mine :)  And, then also this nice little dough bowl for $2.00.  Had to have it!

I looked in the kitchen and all I saw was a long tall table with vintage and costume jewelry.  I walked throughout the house and realized there was another door that led into the kitchen. There was so much stuff I couldn't see the door.  I walked through and staring me in the face was....

It was almost hidden.

There was piles and piles of stuff on it.  And, from the other door the tall table had it hidden.

Now I have had my eyes open for one to go in our kitchen, but at every auction they were going for anywhere between $300 - $600.  I just found one on ebay for $650.  Just not going to do pay that.

Well...the guy had a price tag on it for $450.  UGH!  He walked in and I asked if that was the best he could do knowing well that the sale was ending at 3 p.m. that day and they had to have all contents out.  This baby is heavy.

He hemmed & hawed for a minute.  He said he had someone call in with an offer but was reluctant to take it.  I told him I'd give him cash and take it today if they'd help me load it.  Well let's just say I got to bring the bad boy home and for a very good price!!

My daddy gave me some birthday money and this is what he bought me.

It even has the original label on it!!  And, the top is in really great condition.  Today I am cleaning and conditioning it.

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!!

    1. I have been wanting one and looking everywhere...auctions, estate/tag sales, salvage yards...you name it. So yesterday before I left to go I just so happened to pop onto Craigslist to see if anything had been posted. It was the very first picture in the estate sale listing...and I was thinking I'd never make it back in time. I never thought it'd be in my price range. I am so keeping it :) It is so heavy I will never move it from it's spot!!
